Mode of action of the gel Multi-Gyn ActiGel

The gel ActiGel is based on the patented 2QR complex. This natural substance is obtained from medicinal herbs. It consists of bioactive polysaccharides. The substance possesses the unique ability to block the mechanism of adhesion of harmful bacteria and thereby neutralizes the action of these bacteria. This blocking effect is completely safe and harmless because it is not caused by toxic substances or harsh chemicals. Therefore, the complex does not have negative side properties. In addition to the main property allowing to block harmful bacteria, the gel Multi-Gyn ActiGel strengthens natural restorative ability of tissues and improves the condition of mucosa. It quickly restores optimal vaginal acidity (pH indicator). The gel Multi-Gyn ActiGel promotes to the growth in the number of useful lactobacilli (lactic acid bacteria), as a result of which an optimal natural flora (which prevents the appearance of discomfort) appears.

Bacterial vaginosis

What is bacterial vaginosis?
Bacterial vaginosis is disturbance of the balance (imbalance) of vaginal environment caused by bacteria. Normally, in the vagina there are in large numbers "good" bacteria, lactobacilli, and a few other types of bacteria called coccoid bacteria.

Lactobacilli help to maintain healthy acidity of the vagina, which prevents the growth of coccoid bacteria.

Changing of the acidity of the vaginal environment and excessive presence of coccoid bacteria is called "bacterial vaginosis".

How do I know that I have bacterial vaginosis?

You may notice a change in the character of vaginal discharge. They may be transparent or colored and sometimes abundant. In most cases, they have an unusual odor, especially after unprotected intercourse. This is often accompanied by vaginal discomfort, i.e. itching, irritation, hypersensitivity, redness and soreness. Some women have asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis. Thus, the vaginal acidity in all cases is not in the normal range; pH> 5.

If it is an infection, does it mean that I caught the infection from anybody?

No, it does not, providing that you maintain usual hygiene. Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of bacteria that are often present in the vagina because of the proximity to the anus. Although this disease is more common in sexually active women, it occurs in the absence of sexual activity.

Do I need to be treated?

Yes, you do. Bacterial vaginosis is characterized, in fact, by the undesirable vaginal microflora. If bacterial vaginosis is not treated, bacteria may get up into the uterus and cause serious problems. It is especially important to treat bacterial vaginosis in pregnant women. And for sure, prevention is preferable to treatment.
